The Kenton County Judge Executive appointed Patricia Sommerkamp to the Kenton County Water District # 1 Board of Commissioners for the first time in February 1994. In January 1997, the Campbell County Kentucky Water District and the Kenton County Water District # 1 merged to form the Northern Kentucky Water District. Dr. Sommerkamp has remained an active part of the board and is currently serving a four-year term running from July 12, 2005 through August 21, 2009.
Pat Sommerkamp received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Thomas More College. She earned her master’s degree in Education from Xavier University and her doctorate in Education from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Sommerkamp retired from Thomas More College in Northern Kentucky where she was an associate professor in the department of Business Administration. She acts as facilitator and consultant to profit and non-profit organizations in the area of mission development, strategic planning, job design, climate surveys and program development.
In addition to her role at Thomas More, Dr. Sommerkamp has served as facilitator and consultant to many organizations. Prior to joining Thomas More, she was responsible for several education and training programs at General Electric Aircraft Engines in Evendale.
Dr. Sommerkamp has earned many prestigious awards during her career, including the NKCC Frontiersman Award in 1994, YWCA Career Women of Achievement Award in 1991, Northern Kentucky Woman of the Year in 1986, GE Aircraft Engine Award for the Management Census Survey in both 1982 and 1984, and was named Enquirer Woman of the Year in 1971.
